Back to Reality

We had such a wonderful vacation this week! Usually by the end of my vacation I am ready to get home and have my normalcy but this year was quite the opposite! I could have stayed for another month at least before I would have been ready to come home.

I left on Sunday for OC, MD and met my dearest friend, Angie, there with her little girl, Sandie June. I have been close with Angie since we were 15 and it has been quite some time since we had a quality visit with each other. She is recently divorced (so this was her celebration vacation as her ex is indescribably horrid) and it has been several years since either of us had a real vacation. She was excited when she booked the condo that it was senior week, "the 18 year olds, not the old people" as she said but I, of course, knew what that really meant. Thankfully Sr Week was officially the two weeks prior to our arrival so it wasn't too bad. It was also Fire Fighter Week so there were a lot of families and Dave and Aaron got to bond at the parade on Wednesday.

Our children hit it off and if you ask Aaron who he will marry he quickly responds, "Sandie June" :) He loved her! It was quite adorable, he walked over to her last night while we were on the boardwalk and planted a kiss right on her while she sat in her stroller. It was totally like Dave does to me when he gets home from work, very matter of fact and down to business, you know? The kids played in the sand and in the baby pool we took down and filled with water and by the end of the week even Belle was playing in the sand. She would sit and grab big handfuls of it and just stare at it and let it run thru her fingers. She was sooooo dirty afterwards which "thrilled" me to no end, but she had a great time so I let her enjoy her vacation too :) Aaron's favorite ride was the tea cups and even though he looked like he was going to get sick, he kept asking me to go faster which was just fine with me! (Sara, I taught him well! Soon he'll be old enough for me to teach our turning system :p) I had to ride the tea cups with Aaron since Davey gets sick from rides like that, but he was nice enough to ride the Tidal Wave with mo since it was the first time in at least 4 years I was able to ride an upside down ride. It was wonderful even though it's a cheesy ride. My ultimate ride goal was the Zipper (also known as "the ride that made me scream" according to Dani and Rachel) but, alas, I never made it on that one. I'm hoping for a weekend trip in the late summer/early fall so maybe I can do it then. It was such a relaxing week, the kids were GREAT and had a wonderful time too. I am looking forward to next year when Belle can walk and do more in the sand. Aaron was just getting used to the waves crashing near him so next year he can be my wave jumping partner. I have a nice tan and didn't burn for once! Yippie! Dave and I decided this is definetly something we will do every year from now on, a nice week long family vacation.

Now it's back to reality as we had a Youth Group activity tonight, have to finish unpacking and laundry (thankfully I got most of it done before we came home) and now our a/c isn't working so I have to get Warthen out this week to fix it. Hopefully it will be first thing Monday since I have to work and it will be HOT this week! Ahhhhh, back to reality!

P.S. For those of you who have a MySpace or Facebook, check soon, I took over 200 pictures and will post some soon. :)

I'm really glad to find out that urn likes dizzy rides! Wait until he is old enough to ride rollercoasters!
