A Great Way to Start the Day

I've been busy and have not really had the time and energy at the same time to update my blog, but I thought this mornings events were definitely blog-worthy. I do have much more to blog about, but right now I haven't the time or the patience to try to get it done with the "precious" children around.

First, Belle woke up and as I walked in to her room to get her up the first thing I noticed was the stench. Lovely. She was, as always, in a great mood, laughing, trying to kiss me and just happy, happy, happy! I love it when she wakes up! She laughs with her mouth open so wide and gets this look on her face like no matter what, she will just laugh all day! How adorable! So, I brought her down and started to change her before I fed her, I just couldn't make her wallow in the stink for another minute! As I laid her down, I realized that she had leaked onto my shirt and I was dressed to go out to see a friend in a little while, so of course I was annoyed that I would have to find another clean shirt to wear. (Hard to do when laundry is today!)

As I am changing her, I realize that the best course of action is going to be just to dump her in the tub and clean her up, so I take her in to the bathroom, run the water, get the towels, etc... plus I had Aaron get ready to go in too since he was in need of a bath today as well. Now, I KNOW the best way to get a child ready for the tub is while they are still in their diaper. So, I left Belle in her fresh diaper while I ran the water, etc... and then took it off and stood her up into the tub. Not even 10 seconds after I put her in does she look up at me, grin, and PEED! Aaron was quite grossed out but I just laughed with her, emptied the tub and re-ran the water. While I am in the process of doing this (mind you, Belle was still naked so I just let her stand in the tub while it filled and I held onto her arm to keep her from falling) Aaron was stripping down and went to the bathroom while he was waiting to get in. Now, as most of you know, my dear sweet boy would talk the ears off an elephant and this certainly doesn't change while he's in the bathroom. So,he's talking and tinkling and all of a sudden I realize my arm is now wet. Hmmmmm. I look up and he has peed clear OVER the toilet, into the trash can, INTO THE TUB, down the wall and ONTO MY ARM!!!!!!! I could have screamed! Of course, like any good mother, I yelled at him for it, especially since last night right before he went to bed I had calmly explained that he needs to LIFT the seat and watch where he pees. (Ah, yes! Nothing like having to go really bad and having to stop to clean the toilet off). So, this morning, when he was peeing everywhere EXCEPT for in the toilet I got a little heated :). Thankfully the tub wasn't very full and I have Clorox Wipes for just this type of occasion, but it wasn't an easy task to clean it up all with using one hand to clean and one hand to hold up the still naked Belle.

I can only imagine what this afternoon holds for me....

How Do You Skewer a Graham Cracker?

Mom was thinking about making S'mores for youth group tonight and said to me and this was our conversation:

Mom: "I'm not sure how to make them, what do we do?"

I thought this was odd since she is a 50-something woman but answered,

"Since the church stove is gas, we can use that. Electric stoves make the smores taste funny."

Mom: "Oh. Ok. Well, I need to go buy the ingredients."

Me: "I have skewers here, I'll send them with Dave"

Mom: (with the most bewildered voice I think I have ever heard!!!) "How do you skewer a graham cracker?"

At this point I broke out into hysterical laughter and ran around the house to share this conversation with Dave, and now I must blog about it because it is just too funny to keep to myself!!!

Happy Birthday Gwyneth!

I know it has been a while since I have last posted and I have a TON of stuff to put up, including a bazillion pictures, but today I felt that I needed to blog "on time" for once :)

About a year ago, my sister, Sara, introduced me to a blog, cfhusband.blogspot.com. It is about Nate and Tricia Lawrenson, a couple from North Carolina. Please read Nate's blog for all the background info, it is an addictive blog! I have enjoyed getting to know them and am encouraged each day by how no matter what, they are thankful to God for everything, good and bad. Their daughter, Gwyneth, was born just four days after my beautiful Belle was born and now both girls are 1! Nate has invited everyone to join in "Pink/Brown Thursday" in honor of Gwyneth's special day and since my sister was the one who introduced me to the Lawrensons, I figured it only appropriate that Belle wear a pink and brown dress that Sara gave her for her birthday.

Happy Birthday Gwyneth!
